LONDON FASHION WEEK AW21
Illamasqua was back at London Fashion Week this season, with Director of Artistry Pablo Rodriguez creating beautiful bespoke looks for Vivienne Westwood, Mark Fast and David Koma.
With Covid-19 restrictions still in place and all events moving towards digital platforms, the below were key moments for Illamasqua this season.
VIVIENNE WESTWOOD
Pablo created three incredible looks for Vivienne Westwood, combining neutrals and bright bold hues for a striking effect.
LOOK 1: TECHNICOLOUR CHERUB
“The inspiration comes from Francois Boucher’s Putti paintings from the 1700s. Models were turned into rococo cherubs with the colours on lips cheeks and eyes dialled up to the max. It was quite a monochrome palette of yellows, oranges and pinks. There is a sexy innocence about this look.”

LOOK 2: A DAME’S ICON
“This look was based on Vivienne Westwood’s muse from the late 80s and early 90s: Sarah Stockbridge. This look was applied on only one model, so it was all about bringing this iconic look to life again. The key elements of this look were the dark eyebrows in contrast with platinum blonde hair accented by black eyeliner, a beauty mole and matte red lips.”

LOOK 3: TIDYING UP
“On the male models, we did general male grooming, building luminous skin to make them look like cheeky good boys.”

MARK FAST
At Mark Fast, Pablo created a beautiful aquatic-inspired makeup look. Taking inspiration from light reflecting on water and using shimmering cold silvers and chunky glitter.
“The idea for this look was to capture the effect that you get when light reflects on water. The main feature was a few pieces of chunky silver glitter placed on the centre of the eyelid on top of the lash line, so they catch the light when the models blink. The rest of the look was all about metallic pastels on eyes, lips and cheeks.”

DAVID KOMA
The final installation of Illamasqua’s London Fashion Week AW21 experience was spent back stage at David Koma. Drawing inspiration from graphic liner and 1960s trends, Pablo doubled-up on the eye definition, introducing a burst of colour.
“The inspiration for the makeup look for David Koma was 1960’s graphic liners in either green or blue as they were the key colour accents for the collection. It was an overlay of two liners: first, the green or the blue was applied almost all around the eye, bold and graphic on the top, soft and blended on the bottom, and a thin line of black on the top lash line to add extra intensity. As the eyes were the focus, skin, lips and cheeks were pared down with dewy skin and clear lip gloss.”
