Final show for Day 1 at London Fashion Week for the Illamasqua team, Malan Breton and it didn't fail. Returning for one night only to London Fashion Week to debut his SS20 collection, celebrating his 15th anniversary inspired by the ghosts of disco's past. One of the show stoppers was a suit covered with hundreds and thousands of Swarovski crystals that glistened under the shows lights, every piece of clothing and part of the show was carefully considered and put together making it a night to remember.
The show was staged as a movie within a movie showing the beautiful collection featuring live music, ballet dancers, flowing romantic dresses, party pieces and his signature pieces of the season using hakka dyes. Pairing the movie theme with classical 70's make up that you see in the old magazines setting the era that we was easily transferred into.
'The look for Malan Breton was inspired by the 1970's make up arts, there were two different looks for the eyes. One of them was a pastel look from the Expressionist Palette, shade Diet Cerulean and the other look was similar but a pink version using Nihilism but we added our Powder Eye Shadow called Ritual on top to make it frosted. For the eyelashes we curled all the lashes and put Masquara on top then on the bottom especially in the centre to make them look really long. On the cheeks we used Colour Veil in 3 different shades - the 3 of them are quite orangey so depending on the skin tone we used a light, medium and a dark. For the lips, we used the new Loaded Lip Gloss for the paler girls we used Melba and for the darker skin tones we used Spice. The peach and orangey colour on the cheeks with the pastel on the eyes with the long bottom lashes, that's how you get the 70's look'Pablo Rodriguez, Director or Artistry for Illamasqua
