Day 2 of London Fashion Week is over and sadly so is David Koma’s show. Based at the Leadenhall Building on the 42nd floor, the views were breath-taking. However the sky was grey, with rain whipping against the windows. Once inside David Koma brought the glamour.
With a twist on all things London in the collection, from Union Jack’s to a Gherkin building shaped beaded dress. With references to the location standing out in his collection, you could see the skyline was an inspiration right through to the invite. Night time attire mixed with casual wear stunned the catwalk, such as flight jackets and grey denim. As for the makeup, the makeup was transformable day or night – very minimalistic and natural letting the clothes do all the talking.
Creating a very natural base with Matte Veil and Skin Base, layering up with a cover of Loose Powder where needed. The flawless base was paired with neutral shades used on the eyes and the lips, accessorised with Raven Masquara and groomed brows.
‘We kept the skin very minimal and very natural, with a little bit of coverage and a matte finish. On the eyes we used a Lipstick called Buff. The shade is a greyish brown. We gave the eyelids a wash of colour with it, the mushroom colour finish is a little shiny compared to the matte skin.
We then curled the lashes and put a little bit of black Masquara in the roots, groomed up the eyebrows – it was very, very natural. It didn't look like makeup. Then on the lips we used another Lipstick called Sonnet, this shade is a lot more peachy. With Sonnet, we pressed it on the lips, just to tone down the natural pinkness of the lips. It’s a pretty colour. So the eyes are dirtier but the lips are prettier.’
