Chinese New Year is just around the corner! A time dedicated to reflecting on the past year, your accomplishments and goals for the year to come, Chinese New Year is the unofficial mark of a fresh start.

A time to cleanse, tidy and get rid of any clutter, the Chinese New Year traditions will continue despite the social restrictions in place. This year will likely look much different than years’ past and, while we may not be connecting with loved ones in person, virtual reunions will likely be common practice.

If you’re looking for inspiration to ring in the Chinese New Year, these three looks are a great place to start – and if a virtual celebration or simply a makeup kit clear-out is in the books, then look no further than the below artistry using some of our best-selling products.

LOOK ONE: A HEALTHY GLOW LIKE @yangzi130

Model holding Beyond Powder

The glowing skin trend isn’t going anywhere. This Chinese New Year, celebrate with a healthy glow. After perfecting your base skin, add a bit of radiance with our Beyond Powder. Loved for its ability to give a lit-from-within glow, this product will quickly become a makeup kit favourite – whether you’re celebrating an occasion or running your usual errandsOur Head of Training Mel Barrese loves this highlighter for its versatility.

I love to buff Beyond Powder onto the high points of the face, using a small eye shadow brush for a targeted application of shimmer. If I really want to pack on and intensify the glow, I rub Beyond Powder on to my index finger and then pat directly onto the skin. Beyond Powders are also great on the body for added definition and glow.”

LOOK TWO: A FLUSH OF COLOUR LIKE @sizukaso

Model wearing Colour Veil in Tonic

While most people will be keeping their looks quite natural this year, building a flush of colour on top of your glow is a great way to mark the special occasion. Enter: Colour Veil. Hydrating and easy to apply with buildable pigment, this soft, jelly-textured blusher feels comfortable and refreshing on application. What more could you want to kick off a new year? Mel recommends using Colour Veil to achieve a fresh, airbrushed-effect finish with zero caking.

“I love to apply on to the apples of the cheeks, with a soft, round fluffy brush, blending out and building up colour in layers. Using a very small amount of foundation I then go around the Colour Veil to ensure a truly seamless blend of flush to the cheeks.”

LOOK THREE: A BOLD LIP & A SUBTLE CONTOUR LIKE 刘魔王大人

Model wearing bold loaded lip gloss

Ring in the Chinese New Year with a bold lip and a natural contour. Another makeup kit essential, our Gel Sculpt is loved by pros and makeup lovers alike. If you’re going for a subtle contour, pair this look with a statement lip. The perfect way to achieve flawless colour, our Loaded Lip Polish has a revolutionary formula to maximise your new year look. Super smooth and non-sticky, this lip colour is pigmented with a high-gloss finish. For Mel, it’s a kit no-brainer.

For fuller-looking lips, concentrate the lip gloss in the centre of the lips. Apply on top of your favourite lipstick to add a highly pigmented and mirror-shine finish.
