There is a somewhat divided opinion when it comes to "the most wonderful time of year". Some start to anticipate it as soon as the Halloween decorations have been taken down. Meanwhile, there are those who seek the return to normality and shorter shopping queues. No matter what your thoughts are on the day itself, we can all agree that Christmas makeup looks hit differently. Shimmery lids, fluttery lashes, and daring lips- every year there are certain makeup staples that make a re-appearance to upgrade our looks from everyday to festive season. It's simply essential to take full advantage of the sparkle and glamour that's synonymous with this time of year. If you're in need of a bit of inspiration, fear not. We're here to help.

Here's how to get these three glittery, fabulous, Christmas makeup looks.

How to do Christmas Glitter Eye Makeup

To begin, let's take a look at Christmas glitter eye makeup. Consider this your office Christmas party makeup look- sophisticated yet still turning heads. Although we have no objections to a full face of glitter, with Christmas glitter eye makeup, we'll keep the lips neutral with a natural hue and the base minimal. The emphasis here is on the eyes and the main tool you'll need is the Illamasqua Unveiled Artistry Palette.

Step one: Prime the eyelid with the Skin Base Lift Concealer in a shade that's a shade lighter than your skin tone. A layer of concealer will hide discoloration on the eyelid and smooth away any lines or creases. This will create the perfect base to apply a pop of colour.

Step two: Set the base with the shade Fearless, patting the pigment over the entire front of the lid with the Small Eyeshadow Brush. Spritz some Hydra Setting Spray onto the brush before dipping it into the eyeshadow to intensify the golden shimmer on the lid.

Step three: Use the Blender Brush and the shade Vivacity to add some dimension at the crease of the eyelid. Blend using wind-screen wiper motions until the shade diffuses in with the intense gold on the eyelid.

Step four: Returning with the Small Eyeshadow Brush, apply some of the shade Zealous to the inner corner and just under the brow's arch to bring out the whites of the eyes.

Step five: To add drama to your Christmas glitter eye makeup, use a Colouring Eye Pencil in the dark shade Consolation to create contrast around the lashes. Draw small dashes along the lash line with your eyeliner from the inner to the outer corner. Draw them as close to the lashes as possible so no skin is showing through.

Step six: As soon as the line has been drawn, use a Smudge Brush to gently disperse the liner outwards line at the edges and under the lash line to create a soft, smokey eye.

Step one: The first step to how to do a glitter lip is to pick the colour you want underneath the glitz. A deep red such as the shade Bloom is always an old reliable for a Christmas makeup look but for something more subtle, you can opt for a light pinky-nude such as the shade Pose.

Step two: After applying the lipstick, apply a coat of the Illamasqua Loaded Lip Polish in the shade Glaze, a clear gloss. This will help the glitter to stick to the lips.

Step three: Take an Illamasqua Lip Brush and dip it into the Illamasqua Pure Pigment in the shade Static. Lightly dab

it onto the lips, focussing on the centre, below the cupid's bow.

How to do an all-over Glitter Christmas Makeup Look

Finally, we have the all-over glitter Christmas makeup look. As mentioned previously, we have no objections to a full face of glitter. The one catch is that it has to be applied in the right areas.

Step one: Just like the Christmas glitter eye makeup, prime the eyelid with the Skin Base Lift Concealer in a shade that's a shade lighter than your skin tone.

Step two: Use the Skyrocket Artistry Palette with the Small Eyeshadow Brush. Spritz some Hydra Setting Spray onto the brush before dipping it into the pigment to intensify the bright, glittery pigment of the shade Firestar. Starting at the inner corner, roughly trace the upper and lower lash lines and join both points at the outer corner of the eye to create a wing.

Step two: Using the Blender Brush, apply the shade Pyro at the side of the bridge of the nose, just under the start of the eyebrow. Blend it out towards the outer corner to run parallel with the golden shimmer line for a more editorial finish.

Step three: Trace the lash line with the Precision Ink eyeliner, stopping at the outer corner. Trace the outer half of the lower lashes.

Step four: Apply a coat of the Beyond Lipstick for a glittery lip. Choose whichever colour falls closest to the natural shade of your lips.

Step five: Following a coat of Raven Masquara, of course, add a shimmer of the Beyond Powder in the shade OMG at the tips of the cheekbones for a glitzy finish.
